KDE Human Interface Guidelines

The Human Interface Guidelines are part of an important set of documents which describe how KDE applications behave and look. The guidelines document knowledge gathered by KDE developers as well as experts in the various fields that these guidelines touch.

KDE is serious about consistency and high standards of usability throughout its suite of applications. Therefore a group of experts have recently been formed to create just such a guide, and do so in the open source manner that KDE was formed in.

While a standards compliant guideline is being created, the version that has been the KDE styleguide for two major versions is still online and largely up to date.

The current guidelines can be found at wiki.openusability.org.

KDE4 Human Interface Guidelines

New interface guidelines are being developed in parallel with KDE4. This document will include guidelines for usability, accessibility, and design. If you are interested in contributing to this document, please contact the KDE Guidelines Mailing List. There is also an OpenUsability.org project page.
